In this section, we are going to cover yet another story of a passionate home chef Marcus.
How his journey started
World’s Twisted Food Kitchen started as a catering company back in 2015 by a former corporate junkie who has a passion for food turned chef; Marcus Wong. His story took an interesting turn after 10 years of advertising. Let’s hear from him about how he started his own catering business.
“My name is Marcus Wong & I consider myself an accidental chef. It all begins when I quit my 10-year long career in the advertising field to help, manage & cook for a friend’s dying restaurant & bar.
The initial intention was for me to help him market his place in hopes to bring it back to life but the more I got into it, the more I got excited. That is when I quit my advertising job & started working full time in the restaurant. My friend chose me because he knew my love & passion for cooking, also he needed my help in marketing because of my background. Being from the advertising field I had a lot of good connections with celebrity chefs, local & abroad (some with Michelin stars). I introduced and practised a couple of dishes that I had learnt from the chefs & also my own recipes such as Roast Pork Crackling, Har Mi Pasta (Dried Shrimp Pasta), Char Siew Skewers, just to name a few.
Soom=n enough the restaurant sales picked up quite quickly & we were right back on track but unfortunately, partners in the restaurant weren’t so happy. They decided to shut the place down.
Now, I am left without a job but a fighter in me led me to start my own catering company right after. That’s when World’s Twisted Food Catering was born.
World’s Twisted Food Kitchen has since evolved into retail businesses focusing on foodcourts birthing food stalls such as Wang’s Noodles that specializes in pork-free/alcohol-free Rice & Noodles dishes, Gulpe that specializes in drinks & BFC Yong Tau Foo that is self-explanatory. Today, World’s Twisted Food Kitchen is the central kitchen that produces food for all food businesses under its umbrella as well as provides catering services & private dining (by appointment only).”

Chef Marcus’s creations emphasize Asian-fusion cuisine & love to innovate his favourite dishes from the vast travels experiences he’s had around the world into his own signatures.
The must-have is the Fragrant Chicken & Mushroom Yam Rice Served With Seafood Broth & World’s Twisted Taiwanese Beef Noodles.
